The €800bn plan to ‘rearm Europe’ proposed by the head of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen is ‘based on hopes’ rather than real funding. The publication Euractiv wrote about this.
According to the publication, Ursula von der Leyen’s plan does not provide for the allocation of funds for military needs, but only puts ‘the burden of finding finances on the shoulders of EU member states.’
Euractiv notes that the amount announced by the head of the European Commission is rather based on ‘hopes and assumptions’ than on the real possibility of increasing the defence budget.
Earlier, Ursula von der Leyen presented to the leaders of the EU countries a plan to rearm the bloc for the amount of €800bn.
