The administration of US President Donald Trump has instructed the State Department and the US Treasury Department to prepare plans to weaken sanctions against Russia. This was reported by Reuters.
According to the agency, Donald Trump’s administration is considering a proposal to lift a number of anti-Russian sanctions and find ways to resolve the conflict between Russia and Ukraine.
“The White House has asked the State and Treasury Departments to compile a list of sanctions that could be eased for discussion by US officials with Russian representatives in the coming days as part of the administration’s broad talks with Moscow to improve diplomatic and economic relations,” writes Reuters.
We shall remind you that earlier US Secretary of State Marco Rubio told allies of the United States in Europe that US sanctions against Russia will remain in force until an agreement on Ukraine is reached.
