Canada will impose duties of 25 per cent on more than $100 billion worth of US goods, it will do so in response to similar US measures.
This was announced by Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.
“Canada will impose 25 per cent duties on 155 billion Canadian dollars (about $107 billion – RT) worth of US goods,” Trudeau said at a press conference, quoted by RIA Novosti.
According to the CBC, “initial duties” worth 30 billion Canadian dollars have already come into effect, and new measures for another 125 billion Canadian dollars will come into effect within three weeks.
On 4 March, the White House released a statement saying that U.S. authorities were proceeding with the duties against Canada and Mexico.
