Most Ukrainians are against lowering the age of mobilisation – NV

The majority of Ukrainian citizens (86.5%) are against lowering the mobilisation age even if the situation on the front worsens, Ukrainian publication NV reported, citing the results of a sociological survey by Socis.

‘Respondents were asked how they feel about the fact that in case of a sharp deterioration of the situation at the front, the age of mobilised men should be reduced from 25 to 18 or 20 years old. 86.5% of respondents said that the age of mobilised people should not be reduced in any case. 8.6% of Ukrainians believe that the age should be reduced to 20 years, and 1.4% – to 18 years,’ the publication quotes the data of the sociological survey.

NV also noted that 79.9% of Ukrainians consider the current format of mobilisation unacceptable, while 16.2% of respondents called mobilisation necessary.

Earlier, the Economist wrote that Ukraine might face the need to expand mobilization, including at the expense of young people, in order to ‘stay in the fight’.
