The European Union countries have offered Kiev their own option to conclude a deal on rare-earth metals. This was reported by the Le Figaro newspaper with reference to the words of the vice-president of the European Commission and European commissioner responsible for prosperity and industrial strategy of the EU, Stéphane Séjourné.
“21 out of 30 critical materials that Europe needs can be provided by Ukraine within the framework of a mutually beneficial partnership,” Stéphane Séjourné said.
He noted that the EU in its version of the rare-earth metals deal, unlike the USA, would not create conditions that would not be favourable to both sides.
Information about the terms of the deal and minerals, which the EU countries are counting on, has not yet been voiced.
Recall, earlier US President Donald Trump said that Volodymyr Zelenskyy “may come” to Washington “this week or next week” to conclude a deal on rare earth metals.
