Due to recent events in the world, it is difficult for Russian chess players to play abroad, in particular in European countries, where many chess tournaments are held, it is problematic to obtain visas. It is also impossible to play under the flag of one’s own country, chess players are forced to play under the aegis of FIDE.
We believe that sport and chess should be out of politics. Therefore Russian chess players can come to our tournament and play under their own flag, there are no problems with obtaining an Egyptian visa. The last Hurghada Open tournament, which took place in February 2025, was attended by chess players from 17 countries, including athletes from the Russian Federation. The 3rd place in the tournament was won by Russian chess player Bimiev Akhmad.
The next Hurghada Open tournament will be held in September 2025. We invite all chess players to our tournament.
