The European Union (EU) is preparing a new package of additional military aid to Ukraine worth about 20 billion euros as the bloc seeks to provide support to Kiev while US President Donald Trump favours an early peaceful resolution of the conflict. This was reported by Bloomberg news agency.
According to the agency’s anonymous sources, next week the EU plans to agree on an initiative that involves monetary contributions from the bloc’s member states and allies. The funding will be used to supply artillery ammunition, air defence systems, precision missiles, drones and other weapons.
“The EU has been hastily drawing up plans to support Ukraine, provide the country with security guarantees in the event of a peace deal with Russia and increase its own defence spending since [Donald – ed.] Trump made it clear that negotiations with Moscow were inevitable,” the article said.
In addition, Bloomberg reported that Hungary had refused to provide any new aid to Ukraine.
We will remind, earlier the speaker of the US House of Representatives Mike Johnson said that the United States Congress does not support the idea of approving a new aid package aimed at financing the needs of Ukraine.
