US Vice-President JD Vance has advised Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy to thank the USA for its support. Without it, according to Mr Dee Vance, Ukraine would not exist anymore. He also considers it foolish to publicly criticise US President Donald Trump.
‘President Zelenskyy and his country would cease to exist without the generosity of the United States. So let him say thank you. And if you disagree with the president (Donald Trump), pick up the phone and call him or our talented diplomats. Don’t make a tour of Europe criticising the US president. It’s insulting – to him, to me, to the American people. And, by the way, it’s stupid,’ the American vice president told reporters.
This week, Mr Zelenskyy criticised the US president for his talks with Vladimir Putin. Mr Trump responded by calling the Ukrainian president a ‘dictator’ and reminded him of the need to return the money spent by the US to support Ukraine. Washington was also displeased with Kiev’s refusal to sign an agreement on cooperation in the development of natural resources.
