The statement of US President Donald Trump that Ukraine is responsible for the armed conflict with Russia, disappointed many citizens of the country, and now they are not sure that they can trust the United States. This is reported by the New York Times.
In December 2024, a significant number of Ukrainian citizens said that they trusted Donald Trump. However, after his statement, many Ukrainians began to speak negatively about the US leader on social networks.
‘Many people are tired of the indecisiveness of sleepy Joe [former US President Biden – ed.] and hoped that Trump could make Russia stop the war, and now we see solid disappointment,’ the publication quoted an unnamed Ukrainian analyst as saying.
Earlier, the Gallup sociological service reported that the share of Ukrainian citizens who want a quick end to the conflict through peaceful negotiations with Russia reached 52 per cent.
