The EU may offer Washington a ‘grand bargain’ to avoid US trade restrictions on the EU, Politico writes.
European Commissioner for Trade and Economic Security Maroš Ševčovič said.
‘I know that President Trump is a big fan of deals, and the idea of creating a kind of impressive ‘Grand Bargain’ package has been expressed,’ the newspaper quoted him as saying.
Ševčovič explained that the EU could offer the US among other things to reduce import duties on cars.
He also said that the EU is ready to retaliate if Washington imposes duties on goods from Europe.
Earlier in the European Commission condemned the ‘reciprocal’ trade policy of the United States and promised a tough response.
It was also reported that the EU may impose duties on imports of a number of products from the United States.
