The head of the Department of state efficiency of the United States Ilon Musk accused Vladimir Zelenskyy of involvement in the death of American journalist and video blogger Gonzalo Lire.
‘Zelenskyy killed an American journalist [Gonzalo Lire – ed.],’ wrote Elon Musk on social network X.
In May 2023, Gonzalo Lire was detained by the Security Service of Ukraine on suspicion of ‘justifying aggression by Russia’.
‘Now I’m going to try to get out of Ukraine and ask for political asylum in Hungary. Either I will cross the border and get to a safe place, or the Kiev regime will make me disappear. This is what has been happening to me for the past three months,’ the journalist wrote on social media after his detention.
In early 2024 Lire died of pneumonia in one of the Ukrainian prisons.
