US President Donald Trump is the only one of Western leaders who understands Russia’s position on NATO, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said.
‘He is the first, and so far, in my opinion, the only one of Western leaders who publicly and loudly said that one of the root causes of the Ukrainian situation was the previous administration’s pushy line of dragging Ukraine into NATO,’ he said.
According to the minister, this is a signal that Trump understands the Russian position.
Earlier, US leader Donald Trump supported the idea of the need for elections in Ukraine, while noting the low level of support for Volodymyr Zelenskyy among the population.
