The Chinese Foreign Ministry called on the United States to “correct its mistakes” after the publication on the US State Department website of a link with words about Taiwan’s independence, which was later removed. This was reported by Reuters.
“This is yet another example of the United States’ stubborn adherence to the misguided policy of ‘using Taiwan to suppress China’. We call on the United States side to immediately correct its mistakes,” Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Guo Jiakun said.
In the new version of the statement on the website of the US State Department focuses on the fact that Taiwan cooperates with the US Department of Defence in the field of technology and semiconductors, and the US administration supports the participation of the island in international organisations “as appropriate”.
Earlier, Zhu Fengliang, a representative of China’s State Council Office for Taiwan Affairs, said that Washington’s policy of unilateral action once again proves that the United States will always put American interests first.
