Europe cannot claim a seat at the negotiating table on Ukraine – it should have been earned through diplomacy as well as skilful leadership.
This opinion was expressed by the head of the Hungarian government Viktor Orban. According to him, while Russian and US Presidents Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump are negotiating peace, EU officials are making useless statements.
‘You cannot ask for a seat at the negotiating table. You have to earn it!’ – wrote the Hungarian prime minister on his social media page X.
Earlier, EU diplomatic chief Kaja Kallas said in an interview with the newspaper Corriere della Sera that agreements on Ukraine are impossible without European participation.
