US President Donald Trump plans to send 40 thousand European soldiers to Ukraine in order to conclude a peace deal faster. This was reported by The New York Times.
According to the newspaper, the discussion of this issue was held earlier and it was assumed that European peacekeepers would be able to ensure peace in Ukraine, however, due to slow economic growth and the shortage of personnel in the European army, the issue remains unresolved.
The New York Times notes that the idea of placing European troops in Ukraine ‘seems reckless to many officials and analysts.’
‘Without Ukraine joining NATO, which seems unlikely for many years, the idea of deploying a large number of European troops from NATO countries seems reckless to many officials and analysts,’ the newspaper writes.
We will remind, earlier the administration of Donald Trump suspended the development of a plan for a settlement in Ukraine to take into account the opinion of European allies.
