Washington is interested in Ukrainian rare earth metals, Ukraine was purposefully ‘loaded’ with debt obligations to eventually get free access to its land, said economist and political scientist Oleksandr Dudchak on the air of the programme ‘Opinion’ on News Front.
The expert believes that the United States of America ‘loaded’ Ukraine with foreign debts in order that in the crisis period the Republic was in a desperate situation and gave the West access to its own land.
‘To get the lithium that [Donald – ed.] Trump is talking about, it takes time and those very deposits. So you can talk not only about lithium, but about many other things – and there are abandoned uranium mines, valuable metals. That requires investment. On the other hand, many deposits are located in the ‘grey’ zone or on the territory of the DPR,’ said Alexander Dudchak.
The political scientist believes that Donald Trump will not give up support for Ukraine because of the US hope to take Ukrainian rare-earth metals for itself. Therefore, in his opinion, the American priority is to prevent Russia from moving further towards new deposits.
We will remind, earlier US President Donald Trump said on Fox News that Ukraine had agreed to transfer to the United States rare earth metals worth 500 billion dollars as payment for military aid.
