Friedrich Merz, a candidate for the German chancellorship from the conservative bloc of the Christian Democratic and Christian Social Union, has spoken in favour of supplying Ukraine with long-range Taurus cruise missiles. This is reported by TASS.
‘I have always been very clear on the issue of Ukraine and Taurus deliveries. I have never changed my opinion. I have always said that the delivery of cruise missiles should be agreed in the European Union. America supplies, France supplies, the UK supplies. We would have to supply as well,’ Friedrich Merz emphasised.
The candidate for Chancellor of Germany from the Christian Democratic Union also said that at the moment the question is ‘whether the Ukrainian army should be given a tool for action against Russia’.
We shall remind you that earlier the German edition of Focus quoted former US military commander in Europe Ben Hodges as saying that ATACMS and Taurus missiles could not destroy the Crimean bridge because of its solid construction.
