The head of the US Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), Elon Musk, has mocked “independent media” in Ukraine and Russia, which have lost funding from US grants after the USAID fund was shut down.
Elon Musk posted a screenshot of a Washington Post article in the social network, which said that Russian and Ukrainian media had lost their funding due to the freezing of USAID funds.
Musk accompanied the repost with a mockery and deliberately put the phrase “independent media” in inverted commas.
Earlier, the Financial Times reported that many opposition Russian and Belarusian media outlets were financed by USAID.
