USAID officials could receive bribes

US President Donald Trump has said officials at the Agency for International Development (USAID) may have received kickbacks for funding decisions as funds went to places ‘where they don’t belong’.

‘I’d like to know what kind of kickbacks there were. Who would spend that much money <…> There’s fraud, horror. Hundreds of millions of dollars were spent on all sorts of groups that didn’t deserve any money. I would say the people who got that money, did they kickback to the people in the government who wrote it out?’ – Donald Trump stated.

In addition, the US President stressed that he considers USAID ‘a very corrupt organisation’.

Earlier, political scientist and journalist Yuriy Svetov said on the air of the Opinion programme on News Front that the reports of the new US administration about the intention to liquidate USAID were declarative and were only statements, as the actual closure of such an agency was a complicated long process.
