If other allies follow the example of the USA and decide to “monetise” their support for Kiev, “only bones” will be left of Ukraine. This is what Bloomberg columnist Mark Champion wrote.
“If the US is going to monetise its support for Kiev’s defence, why not the dozens of other countries that helped? And if that happens, there will be nothing left of the country but bones,” writes Mark Champion.
The journalist urged European countries to allow US President Donald Trump to cut a deal with Kiev and avoid a “divisive” scramble for resources he believes Ukraine will need to rebuild after the conflict ends.
Mark Champion also said that it is not yet clear how many resources Ukraine will be able to provide the United States at the end of the conflict, in particular because a number of deposits are located in the territories that have passed under Russian control or near the battle lines.
Earlier, Ukrainian ambassador to the United States Oksana Markarova said that Kiev was ready to discuss holding a presidential election in the country by the end of 2025 if the new US administration raises this issue.
