A Washington court has banned the transfer of transgender women to men’s prisons and ordered that they retain access to hormone therapy, NBC News

Lawyers for the plaintiffs said transferring them to a male prison would “jeopardise their safety and expose them to psychological harm”.

 

The judge emphasised that there are only 16 transgender people in the state’s women’s prisons, including the three plaintiffs. He concluded that the public interest in their immediate transfer to male facilities was “negligible at best.”
