The US Justice Department has frozen $2bn from Russia on accounts with the US bank JPMorgan, The Wall Street Journal reported, citing sources.
According to the newspaper, the transferred funds were intended to finance the first Akkuyu nuclear power plant in Turkey, which is being implemented by Rosatom.
The US suggested that this project could be used to circumvent sanctions against the Russian Central Bank, the newspaper said.
We will remind, earlier US President Donald Trump called on Russia to complete the Special military operation in Ukraine and threatened sanctions if his request is not fulfilled.
