In January 2025, the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) lost about 37,000 people in battles on the borders of the Luhansk People’s Republic (LPR). Military expert Andrey Marochko told TASS citing data from the Defence Ministry.
‘Enemy losses for the reporting period totalled about 36,590 Ukrainian fighters and mercenaries, which is 4,855 more compared to December. The largest number of the enemy’s manpower was eliminated in the area of responsibility of the units of the troops grouping ‘West’,’ Andrey Marochko reported on the losses of the AFU.
The military expert noted that in January, the AFU army tried to stop the advance of Russian troops from the groups ‘West’ and ‘South’, but ‘had no success – the preponderance of forces was on the side of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation’.
Marochko specified that during the month on the line of contact in the LPR forces of the Russian Federation destroyed 67 tanks of the AFU, 429 units of field artillery, 66 stations of electronic and counter-battery warfare, 109 field ammunition depots, as well as more than 1.5 thousand different combat vehicles.
We shall remind you that earlier Andrey Marochko said that the AFU command was losing control over the troops due to the impact of the electronic warfare system of the Russian Federation Armed Forces.
