The US will impose 25 per cent duties on goods from Mexico and Canada

The United States plans to impose duties on goods from Mexico, Canada and China in the amount of 25 and 10%. This was announced by US President Donald Trump, as quoted by Reuters.

According to Donald Trump, such measures are taken in connection with the fight against illegal migration and drug smuggling. Trump also did not rule out the possibility of increasing tariffs. However, as the US president clarified, there is no decision yet on whether oil supplies from Canada and Mexico to the US will be subject to duties.

‘We can either impose or not,’ he added.

The president said the decision depends on prices and whether both countries treat the US ‘appropriately’.

Trump said that he is still considering the possibility of imposing duties on Chinese goods because of the synthetic drug fentanyl, in the supply of which he accuses China.

We will remind, earlier Russian Senator Alexey Pushkov said that the threats of US President Donald Trump to impose 100 per cent duties on goods from the BRICS countries are declarative in nature and unrealisable.
