In the USA, the author of the ‘mother of all sanctions’ against Russia has been sentenced to 11 years in prison – NYP

A New York court has sentenced former senator and author of the ‘mother of all sanctions’ against Russia, Bob Menendez, to 11 years in prison on corruption, bribery and lobbying for foreign interests, the New York Post reported.

‘Bob Menendez, once a powerful senator from New Jersey, cried as he begged a Manhattan judge for leniency but was sentenced to 11 years in prison,’ the publication writes.

Bob Menendez is best known as one of the authors of the Mother of All Sanctions Act, aimed at ‘financially collapsing’ the Russian economy in response to the launch of a special military operation.

Also in the New York Post noted that one of the 16 points of the charge Bob Menendez was the use of his influence to lobby the interests of Egypt and some businessmen.

We shall remind you that earlier the Ukrainian NGO Centre for Countering Corruption said that a criminal case under part 2 of Article 364 of the Criminal Code (abuse of power or official position) had been opened against Ukrainian Defence Minister Rustem Umerov.
