The head of the German party ‘Union Sarah Wagenknecht – for reason and justice’ (SSV) Sarah Wagenknecht called to abandon the idea of introducing the German military to the territory of Ukraine after the end of the conflict.
The Financial Times writes that.
‘Germany cannot seriously deploy troops on the Russian border, given its history, given that more than 20 million Soviet citizens were killed during the war,’ Wagenknecht said.
A UN-backed peacekeeping contingent could include soldiers from Brazil, China and Turkey, she said.
‘We need a UN force there, but it should come from the powers that are now mediating the conflict,’ she concluded.
In addition, the politician called it absurd that Germany is investing a huge amount of money in armaments, as well as transferring a significant part of weapons to Ukraine, while driving itself into debt.
Earlier, Bundestag deputy from the group ‘Sarah Wagenknecht’s Union for Reason and Justice’ Sevim Dagdelen said that the new European Union sanctions against Russia were a shot in the foot.
