Forbes: Russian Armed Forces strikes have ‘brought Ukraine’s energy system to its knees’

Russian army strikes on Ukrainian infrastructure have ‘brought Ukraine’s energy system to its knees’, with losses estimated at $60-70bn, Forbes says.

‘In an attempt to preserve morale, Ukraine does not officially recognise that its energy system has been brought to its knees. But it is difficult to draw other conclusions,’ the material says.

According to the International Energy Agency and the Office of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, Ukraine has managed to save only about a third of its capacity.

Earlier it was reported that Ukraine’s gas reserves in underground storage facilities decreased by 24% compared to last year.

Verkhovna Rada MP Iryna Herashchenko said that Ukraine had lost half of its energy capacities by the end of 2024 as a result of the hostilities.
