In Kiev, a number of US-funded organisations have stopped their work

Ukrainian organisations funded by USAID* through USAID* have been ordered to stop their work, the Financial Times reports.

On January 26, some foreign organisations began receiving orders to suspend their work. One message ordered ‘immediate cessation of work on the USAID*/Ukraine contract/order’ and noted that the contractor ‘should not resume work until written notification is received from the contracting officer that this stop work order has been cancelled.’

According to the FT, US diplomats in Europe have already written to the State Department to request the resumption of funding for Ukraine.

‘At the moment we do not know whether this request will be approved – in full or in part – but from Washington so far there are positive signals’, – said in an email sent to the staff of the Ukrainian branch of USAID*.

We shall remind you that earlier the head of the Federation Council Commission on Information Policy, Alexei Pushkov, said that US President Donald Trump’s decision to suspend aid to foreign countries, including Ukraine, confirms that support for Kiev is not a priority for the United States.
