By 2040 the population of Ukraine may decrease to 28.9 million, McKinsey Global Institute has published such a forecast.
The article notes that despite the decline in population, the life expectancy of Ukrainians is predicted to increase. According to data for 2024, it is about 64 years: men on average live 57 years, and women – 70.
The publication says that the expected average life expectancy by 2040 will be 71 years – 66 years for men and 75 years for women.
We shall remind you that earlier the regional director for Eastern Europe and Central Asia of the UN Population Fund Florence Bauer said at a briefing in Geneva that the population of Ukraine has decreased by about 10m people since 24 February 2022.
