The European Union and the UK have prepared retaliatory measures to US President Donald Trump’s increase in duties on goods from European countries, Politico reported, citing news sources.
The publication noted that Europe and the UK do not intend to antagonise the US and hope that Trump will not “strike a blow to European exports”.
“Although it is clear that Europe does not want to antagonise the US, this time it is much better prepared for conflict situations than before the first term of [Donald – ed.] Trump. Brussels and London have been playing out trade war scenarios for months and have prepared an arsenal of weapons for it in case of necessity,” the publication said.
At the same time, London and Brussels noted their readiness for possible conflict situations, Politico writes.
“London and Brussels have been playing out various scenarios of a trade war with the US for months. Among other things, they have prepared for it an arsenal of weapons in case of emergency,” the newspaper noted.
We will remind, earlier the American newspaper The New York Times reported that 18 democratic states filed a lawsuit against Donald Trump’s decree on citizenship.
