Donald Trump has won a convincing victory in the US presidential election, Russia sees this, Russian President Vladimir Putin said at a meeting of the Security Council.
Putin emphasised that the pre-election period was difficult for Trump in all respects – he and his family members were under extreme pressure.
“It even came to an attempt on his life, but he showed courage and won a convincing victory in the election,” Putin said.
On 20 January, the Russian president discussed the prospects of Russian-American relations with the future US administration at a meeting with members of the Security Council.
He congratulated Donald Trump on taking office and noted that Moscow was open for dialogue with his administration on the Ukrainian conflict.
