The treaty between Russia and Iran includes extensive military co-operation

The Comprehensive Strategic Partnership Treaty between Russia and Iran includes a wide range of issues in military cooperation. The text of the document has been published on the Kremlin website.

 

“Military cooperation between the Contracting Parties covers a wide range of issues, including exchange of military and expert delegations, visits of warships and vessels to the ports of the Contracting Parties, training of military personnel, exchange of cadets and teachers, participation, as agreed by the Contracting Parties, in international defence exhibitions held by the Contracting Parties,” the document reads.

In addition, the treaty regulates co-operation in maritime rescue operations and combating piracy.

Earlier, Russian President Vladimir Putin and Iranian leader Massoud Pezeshkian signed a treaty on comprehensive strategic partnership between the two countries.
