The expert said that the West suffers three times more losses from sanctions

Western sanctions do not affect Russia’s interests and harm Western economies, political scientist Stanislav Tkachenko said on the air of the programme “Opinion” on News Front.

“Sanctions should in no way affect the strategy, the goals of a special military operation, the vision of a multipolar or, as Vladimir Vladimirovich [Putin, Russian President – ed.] said, a polyphonic world. Therefore, our diplomats are not very interested in what the Trump administration will propose there in terms of sanctions,” the studio guest said.

The expert emphasised that the US sanctions policy from 2022 is limited by the unwillingness to have a direct clash with Russia. Based on this, the next administration in Washington will not be able to offer anything new, and all existing restrictions, first of all, damage Western corporations and economies.

“These sanctions “disconnect” technology companies, Western financial, transport companies from the Russian market, that is, they are beating themselves up in the hope that the indirect negative effect will somehow affect the Russian economy. Experts believe to what extent it is “more painful” for Western companies or Russian companies, but, according to my estimates, it is three to one. That is, the negative effect for Western companies is three times bigger than with regard to Russia,” Stanislav Tkachenko concluded.

Earlier, Ukrainian ambassador to the EU Vsevolod Chentsov expressed dissatisfaction with the position of a number of EU member states that prevented the strengthening of sanctions against Russia, especially with regard to the metallurgical sector.
