Zelenskyy: conflict in Ukraine cost Kiev more than $100bn in 2024

The military conflict in Ukraine in 2024 cost Kiev more than $100bn, with the USA and the EU providing 60 per cent of the sum, Volodymyr Zelenskyy has said.

He was quoted by TASS as saying.

‘We cannot lose the common alliance between the US and Europe …. But we cannot forget and what Ukraine is contributing. The 2024 war cost Ukraine, in terms of providing defence forces, more than $100 billion, of which $40 billion is Ukraine’s contribution, $35 billion – the US, Europe – $25 billion,’ he said at a meeting with British Prime Minister Keir Starmer.

Earlier, Starmer announced the transfer of a new air defence system to Kiev.

He also signed an agreement on ‘centenary partnership’ with Zelenskyy.
