Ukraine is unhappy with EU countries’ resistance to toughening anti-Russian sanctions

Ukraine’s ambassador to the EU, Vsevolod Chentsov, has expressed dissatisfaction with the position of a number of European Union countries that prevent the strengthening of sanctions against Russia, especially with regard to the metallurgical sector.

“They [some EU countries – ed.] lobbied… for the exclusion of the sanctions regime until the 28th year for certain types of products of the metallurgical [complex – ed.]. We are trying to reduce this term and the volume of products that the Russian Federation can export,” the Ukrainian TV channel Public quotes Vsevolod Chentsov as saying.

In addition, the ambassador noted that Russia is adapting to the sanctions regime by quadrupling investments in the production of mineral fertilisers and improving the quality of products.

Earlier, Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto said that the new sanctions of the outgoing US administration against the Russian energy sector posed a threat to energy security for Europe.
