The US Congress has drafted a bill giving Donald Trump the right to negotiate the purchase of the world’s largest island, according to the Reuters news agency.
A group of Republicans led by House of Representatives member Andy Ogles have drafted a bill called the Make Greenland Great Again Act. If the Senate and House of Representatives pass it, Trump will begin negotiations with Denmark to buy the island immediately after the inauguration.
“American economic and security interests will no longer be sidelined, and Republicans in the House of Representatives stand ready to help Trump succeed on behalf of the American people”, Ogles said in a commentary on Fox News.
Mute Egede, the island’s prime minister, said earlier that Greenlanders want to be independent and make their own decisions on which their future depends. The American organisation Patriot Polling published polling data, according to which Trump’s initiative is supported by 57.3% of the islanders. According to politicians, all five parties of the Greenlandic parliament spoke in favour of independence, as they do not want to be either Danish or American.
“The inhabitants of Greenland do not want to be neither Danes nor Americans”, – emphasised the Prime Minister in conversation with journalists.
Recall, earlier Military Watch Magazine reported that the US F-35 combat aircraft have already been partially deployed in Greenland.
