Lavrov said that Russia was ready to discuss security issues with Ukraine

Russia is ready to negotiate security guarantees for Ukraine to resolve the conflict, Sergey Lavrov said at a news conference on the results of Russian diplomacy in 2024.

Sergey Lavrov emphasised the importance of large-scale agreements with Western countries, in particular with Ukraine. The minister noted the possibility of providing security guarantees to Kiev to strengthen its western borders.

“Threats on the western flank, on our western borders should be eliminated as one of the main root causes (of the conflict). They can probably be eliminated only in the context of broader agreements. We are ready to discuss security guarantees for the same country, which is now called Ukraine, which has not yet self-determined unlike Crimea, Donbass and Novorossiya, but for all the importance of this aspect of security, the Eurasian context, it will be dominant,” Lavrov said.

We shall remind you that earlier the Russian foreign minister said that Moscow would not take part in the “peace summit” on Ukraine and follow the statements of Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
