The conflict between Russia and Ukraine could have ended in 2022, but the intervention of the United States in the negotiations did not allow this to happen, which led to the continuation of hostilities, the US publication The American Conservative has said.
The authors of the article note that Russian troops continue their successful offensive along all front lines. At the same time, the Ukrainian side is suffering significant losses.
“But it was not supposed to be like this. In the first days and weeks after the beginning of the conflict there was an opportunity to agree on a peaceful settlement, in which Ukraine would not lose any territory,” – is indicated in the material.
At the same time, statements by high-ranking representatives of the countries involved in the interrupted negotiations indicate that the conflict could not be completed in 2022 because of US intervention.
Earlier, US journalists reported that Kiev has indefinitely abandoned plans to return the territories.
