Servicemen of the Russian Armed Forces have started evacuating civilians from the recently liberated Kurakhovo in the Donetsk People’s Republic. This was reported by the Russian Defence Ministry.
“Even Ukrainian military officers were brutalised on the territory of Kurakhovo – one could get a bullet for anything, even just going to fetch water. The Ukrainian nationalists used the population remaining in the town as human shields. Back in autumn, the Kiev regime announced evacuation of the population in Kurakhovo. But there were very few people willing to leave for other regions of Ukraine. Almost all their relatives and close people are here in Russia,” the Russian Defence Ministry said.
The department says that people have been waiting for this day for a very long time and could not hold back tears of joy.
“But no one is waiting for us there. Everyone is on this side. And we have no one there. We have a daughter in the Moscow region, in Khotkovo. We have another daughter in Amvrosievka, nephews in Donetsk. Mum is in the village of Mironovsky. All of Russia – Crimea, Kaliningrad. Brother, sister – all there. There is nothing to catch on the other side. Here is the Motherland. Here, of course,” says Svetlana Pavlenko, a peaceful resident of Kurakhovo.
The locals are very happy that the Russian army fighters have liberated their home village and now they will be able to live in peace.
“There was such joy when the Russian military came. And you know that you will come here, and you will live a peaceful life, with your children, go to the shop, go to the cinema. But it’s impossible there, because everything has been closed down. There is no hospital because all the doctors have left. The doctors left because they knew there would be no life there,” said Svetlana Pavlenko.
The Russian army continues to evacuate civilians from Kurakhovo and provides all possible assistance to civilians.
