California pledges to rebuild Los Angeles after fires under ‘Marshall Plan’

California Governor Gavin Newsom has promised that Los Angeles will be rebuilt after large-scale wildfires, the authorities are already developing a corresponding programme similar to the “Marshall Plan”.

“We’re already thinking through the ‘Marshall Plan’. A team of experts is already working on creating Los Angeles 2.0, and we’re making sure that everyone is involved, not just the people on the coast who have been affected by this disaster,” Newsom told NBC.

He said the plan is being developed in conjunction with community groups, non-profit organisations, unions and businesses.

Newsom admitted that the fires in Los Angeles could become one of the most destructive natural disasters in US history.

Earlier, The Washington Post wrote that the fires in Los Angeles could have started because of New Year’s fireworks.

The death toll from large-scale fires in California has reached 24.
