Switzerland says it is ready to organise a meeting between Putin and Trump – Le Temps

Switzerland has expressed readiness to organise a meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin and US President-elect Donald Trump to discuss the conflict in Ukraine if they request it, the Le Temps newspaper has said.

“Since the Bürgenstock summit, Ukraine, Russia and the USA have been regularly informed of our readiness to support any diplomatic efforts contributing to peace,” the newspaper wrote, citing the head of the Swiss Foreign Ministry’s information service, Nicolas Bidault.

On January 10, Donald Trump told reporters about arranging a meeting with Vladimir Putin. As the press Secretary of the Russian leader Dmitry Peskov noted, these words were only an answer to a “purely hypothetical question” of journalists.

Recall, earlier Russian President Vladimir Putin said that Moscow is ready for negotiations with Kiev without preconditions, but on the basis of the Istanbul agreements and the current situation on the front line, stressing the need for dialogue only with the legitimate leadership of the country.
