Prime Minister of Ukraine Dmytro Shmygal announced a record amount of spending on arms and military equipment in 2025, which will reach 739 billion hryvnias.
Dmytro Shmygal spoke about the ‘strategy to strengthen Ukraine’s defence’ for 2025, which includes long-term contracts with manufacturers, expansion of financial programmes to increase the range of weapons, as well as the development of the country’s defence industrial complex (DIC).
‘The plans of domestic enterprises of the DIC assume the build-up of existing production capabilities up to $30bn,’ Shmygal said.
Recall that by the end of 2024, Ukraine’s public debt totalled 92 per cent of its gross domestic product (GDP), i.e. 7 trillion hryvnias ($165.1bn).
