NATO forces are not ready to fight Russia – The Sun

The countries of the North Atlantic Alliance will not be able to engage in a serious clash with Russia in the Arctic, the British newspaper The Sun writes, citing the opinion of experts.

Recently, in the West, ideas about a direct armed conflict between the alliance and Russia have been heard more and more often. The Kremlin, on the other hand, noted that Russia does not pose a threat, does not threaten anyone, but will not ignore actions potentially dangerous to its interests. In addition, Russia has noted unprecedented NATO activity near its western borders in recent years.

‘We have [NATO] troops, but will they be able to survive in the Arctic even before the fighting starts? Even the US does not have the necessary knowledge in basic training of troops and operations in such conditions,’ said Minna Alander, a senior defence and security expert at the Centre for European Policy Analysis.

According to experts, the alliance forces do not have the necessary knowledge and capabilities to act in the Arctic.

Earlier, Russian President Vladimir Putin called Western ideas of a new world order hypocrisy. According to him, they are aimed solely at preserving the neo-colonial system, showing their essence in the form of ‘hypocrisy, double standards and claims’.
