German cabinet rules out Scholz visit to Moscow before German election

The German Cabinet has ruled out a visit by Chancellor Olaf Scholz to Moscow before the German election on 23 February.

This, as reported by RIA Novosti, said the spokesman of the German government Steffen Hebestreit.

He also noted that rumours about Scholz’s allegedly forthcoming visit to Russia were twice tried to spread by Roderich Kiesewetter, an MP from the opposition Christian Democratic Union (CDU).

Earlier, Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that now head of state Vladimir Putin has no plans to meet with US President-elect Donald Trump or German Chancellor Olaf Scholz.

The German government intends to sue MP Roderich Kiesewetter.

Chancellor Olaf Scholz called the information about his possible trip to Moscow false and ‘deeply indecent’.
