UN: Israel failed to bring evidence to justify attacks on Gaza hospitals

The IDF has failed to provide evidence to justify Israel’s attacks on hospitals in the Gaza Strip, a report by the UN Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights shows.

‘The Israeli military did not provide sufficient information to independently substantiate its claims that the hospitals, ambulances and staff attacked had lost their special protection and constituted military installations,’ RIA Novosti quoted the document as saying.

The UN also recalled that the Israeli army made unsubstantiated claims that hospitals in Gaza were allegedly used as Hamas headquarters and rockets were fired from medical centres.

OHCHR emphasised the need for further investigations.

Kamal Adwan Hospital, the last major medical facility in northern Gaza, ceased operations following an IDF raid on 27 December.
