Chinese President Xi Jinping has congratulated Vladimir Putin on New Year’s Day, saying that Russian-Chinese relations have reached a new level of political trust and strategic cooperation.
“Under our strategic leadership, political mutual trust and strategic cooperation are constantly reaching a new level,” Xi Jinping said, as quoted by Xinhua news agency.
The Chinese President noted that the eastern route of the China-Russia gas pipeline has been fully put into operation, and practical cooperation in various fields is yielding more and more visible results. The Chinese leader also pointed to the successful start of the Culture Year, which has further strengthened friendly ties between the countries.
In addition, Xi Jinping stressed the mutual support of China and Russia within the BRICS and Shanghai Cooperation Organisation, aimed at strengthening solidarity and cooperation between the countries of the Global South.
Recall, earlier Russian President Vladimir Putin said that the volume of trade between Russia and China, according to various estimates, ranges from 220 to 240 billion dollars, growth continues.
