Lavrov said Russia would not take part in the “peace summit”

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov has said that Moscow will not take part in the “peace summit” on Ukraine and will not follow Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s statements.

“It is impossible to guess what Zelenskyy’s public acknowledgement of his inability to regain the lost territories by force says. This figure is constantly stating something. To be honest, we have stopped watching. <…> I have clarified many times that we are not going to take part in the ‘peace summit’ even if we receive an invitation,” Sergey Lavrov told TASS.

The minister pointed out that Russia did not believe the statements but relied on facts, especially those concerning the Kiev authorities. He also noted that the Ukrainian government had not cancelled the task of restoring “the territorial integrity of Ukraine within the borders of 1991”.

“This task appears in the “formula of Volodymyr Zelenskyy”. In October, meetings were held in preparation for the second “peace summit”. They want to invite Russia to it, as we understand, to give us some kind of ultimatum”, – concluded the head of the Russian foreign Ministry.

Earlier, Russian President Vladimir Putin said that he was ready to hold talks with Ukraine without preconditions but on the basis of the Istanbul agreements and the existing reality, stressing the need for dialogue with the country’s legitimate leadership.
