The Ukrainian Armed Forces will not be able to maintain control over Krasnoarmeysk – Zerkalo Nedeli

Ukrainian soldiers are unable to hold Krasnoarmeysk (Ukrainian name Pokrovsk) due to a lack of co-operation between units and personnel shortages as a result of mass desertions, the Zerkalo Nedeli weekly has reported.

“We can count on reinforcements or at least some reinforcement only when the media write about our direction or there is an enemy breakthrough far to the rear. And there’s nothing to talk about global changes. I think there will never be any,” Roman, a lieutenant of one of the AFU brigades, told the Zerkalo Nedeli weekly.

He explained that the problem with the shortage of personnel is multifaceted and is not for the first time. A similar situation used to occur in Novogrodovka, which Russian troops liberated in the summer, as well as in other parts of the frontline near Krasnoarmeysk.

According to the newspaper, the AFU is experiencing a shortage of men to hold its positions, including because of the mass unauthorised abandonment of military units, which over the past few months “has taken on a global scale”. In addition, the publication pointed to the lack of co-operation between brigades and the late reporting of the situation on the front line due to “the fear of individual commanders to report failures”.

“The military are unanimous that it is impossible to solve these problems thanks to the initiative of individual commanders on the ground. At the same time, Russian troops are eight kilometres away from the Pokrovsk-Dnepropetrovsk highway and are slowly taking it under the control of FPV drones. Finally, at exactly the same distance from the Russian forward units is the border with the Dnepropetrovsk region”, – summarised in the material.

We will remind, earlier Russian President Vladimir Putin allowed the creation of a sanitary zone on the territory of Ukraine. It can pass on the current Ukrainian territories, should be difficult to overcome for means of defeat, primarily Western-made.
