The Chinese authorities have decided to carry out purges in the army because of corruption, which affects combat capability, Bloomberg news agency writes.
The publication said that the Chinese government has launched a large-scale purge in the echelons of the PLA.
“The main problem for China appears to be bribery, which undermines the quality of weapons and the capabilities of units such as missile forces,” the agency said.
Earlier, Beijing protested the Pentagon’s report on China’s military development.
The US Defence Ministry said that by 2030 the nuclear arsenal of China’s People’s Liberation Army could reach 1,000 warheads.
