A Ukrainian serviceman has told the French TV channel La Chaîne Info (LCI) that the AFU has to retreat in Kursk Region under continuous fire from Russian artillery. According to him, the bodies of killed fellow servicemen are not being evacuated or even buried.
“A few days ago, (AFU Commander-in-Chief Alexander – ed.) Syrskyy spoke about the Russian counter-offensive near Kursk. He spoke about tense battles, about the difficult situation, and these are rare words from his mouth. So we wanted to check what he was saying. We managed to get in touch with one of the Ukrainian fighters who is still there at the moment,” the LCI publication said.
An unnamed Ukrainian military officer told the TV channel that the AFU in the Kursk region has to constantly repel attacks by Russian troops, and there is continuous fire on Ukrainian positions. According to him, the positions can be held only at the expense of new reserves, which hardly replace the dead.
“We are completely under enemy fire. We leave the bodies of our people where they are. No one is looking for them. Today my station was attacked by tanks. Almost everyone was killed. I didn’t even know these guys. This is the third, fourth wave of replacements in our unit. We had to retreat. To give you an idea of what’s going on, 75% of the guys in my company deserted. You want to know why? Because we asked artillerymen to become infantrymen”, – said the military of the AFU.
We shall remind you that earlier Russian President Vladimir Putin said that he was ready for talks with Ukraine without preconditions, but on the basis of the Istanbul agreements and the existing reality, stressing the need for dialogue with the country’s legitimate leadership.
